Vehicle fire affects traffic on the Coquihalla Highway for hours

UPDATE (10 a.m.): BC Coroners Service told CFJC Today it hasn’t been called to investigate a death, or deaths, at the stretch of the Coquihalla Highway Monday afternoon.

Additionally, BC Emergency Health Services says it wasn’t dispatched to the area.

EARLIER: MERRITT, B.C. — The northbound lanes on the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt fully reopened late Monday (March 28) after a vehicle fire delayed traffic for hours.

DriveBC first reported of the vehicle fire between Coldwater Road and Comstock Road shortly after noon Monday. Traffic resumed northbound an hour later, but the right lane remained closed until shortly before 10 p.m. for vehicle recovery.
