Richer than chocolate: Kamloops man wins $100,000 on scratch-and-win
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops local Gregory Vaal was gifted a mug full of chocolate from a generous colleague, but the sweetest part was a Set for Life scratch-and-win ticket tucked inside worth $100,000.
“I was working the night shift when my co-worker gave everyone a mug filled with chocolate and a lottery ticket,” Vaal says. “I decided to scratch it at 3 a.m. with my colleague and he told me I won.”
Vaal volunteers and wants to give a portion of his prize to a few charitable organizations. He also plans to put some away for his children’s post-secondary future.
“I’ve given to various charities and helped out with many crises throughout the world,” he says. “I feel like this is a gift coming back to us. It’s quite remarkable.”
