Interior Health to hire 17 new workers ahead of expanding service at downtown Kamloops clinic

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health’s mobile supervised consumption vehicle will be decommissioned, and have its services moved into a downtown Kamloops clinic.
In a news release Tuesday (March 29) morning, Interior Health also says it’s planning to bring services such as primary care to the 235 Lansdowne St. location. Interior Health says it will add 17 new positions in the spring as it expands its mental health and substance use supports for people in Kamloops and area.
“Expanding these services is a vital part of our response to the toxic drug crisis and further supports the range of mental health and addictions care available in Kamloops,” Susan Brown, Interior Health president and CEO says.
The 17 new positions will support Interior Health programs including early psychosis intervention, substance use connections for youth, youth day treatment, and youth intensive case management. The health authority also says it is introducing new substance use counselling and treatment for young people.
