Kamloops RCMP investigating the discovery of a human bone on North Shore trail

KAMLOOPS – RCMP in Kamloops have begun an investigation into the discovery of a human bone along the Rivers Trail walking path on the North Shore.

In a news release Sunday (Mar. 27) evening, RCMP said they received a call from a person Saturday around 5:20 P.M. who reported finding the bone while walking their dog.

Police responded to the trail near the airport and remained in the area through the weekend.

“Police engaged the BC Coroners Service anthropologist, who confirmed the bone was human,” said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “The investigation into who the bone belonged to and the circumstances surrounding its discovery is ongoing and will be done in consult with the BC Coroners Service.”

RCMP say searches of the area have yet to turn up any other items of significance. Police are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious, to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment.
