Merritt council to add community recovery and emergency preparedness to strategic focuses
MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt City Council is set to add community recovery and emergency preparedness to the strategic focus document of the city following a committee of the whole meeting last week.
“Following the November 2021 floods, staff brought proposed updates to the Committee of the Whole meeting on March 15, 2022. Staff discussed proposed updates with Council, who provided feedback about their views on the items removed, and modifications made,” Greg Lowis, director of corporate services stated.
The focus is split into four subsections including infrastructure, emergency preparedness, legislative updates, and community wellness.
Some of the biggest items on the list are replacement of the Middlesborough Bridge, repair work at the Rapid infiltration basins, and the Coldwater River Floodplain dike design.
