KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers won in a shootout in their third of six straight head to head battles with the Kelowna Rockets Friday (March 18).

The Rockets scored but it was instantly waved off by the ref due to goalie interference.

Blazer Quinn Schmiemann opened the scoring five minutes into the first period. He was assisted by Logan Stankoven and Caeden Bankier during a power play.

Three minutes later, the Rockets tied it as Colton Dach scored, again on the power play.

Dach made it two just half a minute into the second period, but the Rockets couldn’t manage to keep the lead.

Connor Levis tied the game at 13 minutes into the second period, assisted by Marko Stacha.

Neither team managed to score in the third period so the game went to overtime.

Try as they might, both teams were unsuccessful in winning in overtime and they went to shootout for the second game in a row.

Matthew Seminoff scored one for the Blazers, bringing the final score to 3-2.

The Blazers are at 42-14-2-0 for 2021-2022 WHL Season. They’re good for 86 points in 58 games played. Next up, they host the Kelowna Rockets at Sandman Centre Saturday (March 19).
