Vehicle on fire closes Highway 1 between Chase and Kamloops late Thursday

UPDATE (8 a.m.): Nobody was injured when a semi-truck on fire closed the Trans Canada Highway for nearly three hours late Thursday.

Sgt. Barry Kennedy with Chase RCMP says the fire was caused by a seized brake on the truck’s trailer. He adds the driver tried to put it out, but the fire eventually engulfed the trailer.

Adams Lake Fire put out the fire while the highway was closed.
