BLUE RIVER, B.C. — The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges against five protesters after a violent confrontation with Trans Mountain employees near Blue River.

The incident happened on September 15, 2021 at a worksite on Murtle Road.

RCMP say protesters blocked employees from accessing the site and their members were called when the confrontation turned violent.

“Prior to police attendance, protesters allegedly breached a fence and began throwing rocks at the workers and their equipment. A small tree was also lit on fire and discarded on the road to block access,” said Sgt. Chris Manseau, Media Relations Officer for the BC RCMP. “Officers arrested five individuals who were actively resistant, and several others evaded arrest by running into the woods.”

Several workers claimed to RCMP that they were assaulted with weapons. One employee was injured and required hospital treatment.

The employees also reported the theft of a hard hat and radio.

As of March 2, charges have been approved against five people:

  • Levana Irena Prud’homme, 34 of Vancouver
  • Mayuk (Nicole) Manuel, 45 of Chase
  • Isha Ray Jules, 46, of Kamloops
  • Sami Jaida Marie Nasr, 21, of Vancouver
  • Tricia Taylor-Lynn Charlie, 20, of Kamloops

The charges include assault, assault causing bodily harm and mischief.

While four of the five charged have been arrested, RCMP are still on the lookout for Charlie, who is now wanted on a province-wide warrant.
