Rivers FC changes open tryouts schedule due to ‘overwhelming’ response

KAMLOOPS — The desire to play semi-pro soccer in Kamloops is more popular than anticipated.

In a news release Tuesday (March 15) morning, Rivers FC – Kamloops’ newest soccer club competing in the newly-formed League1BC – announced it has changed its time in open tryout evaluations.

The Rivers FC women’s tryouts will take place Saturday (March 19) from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday (March 20) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., while the men’s tryouts will take place Saturday from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Rivers FC says the original plan was to run the men’s and women’s evaluations at the same time, although the “overwhelming response” from applicants resulted in the club holding separate tryouts.

All sessions will be held at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops. Those players wishing to take part in the tryouts can register online.

Rivers FC was revealed in November 2021. The club will host their home opener at Hillside Stadium on Sunday, May 22, with the women playing Altitude FC from Vancouver at 2 p.m. and the men playing TSS Rovers from Burnaby at 4:30 p.m.
