PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. — A B.C Review Board panel has granted Merritt child killer Allan Schoenborn’s request for greater freedoms.

In a decision posted Friday (Mar. 11), the panel says Schoenborn will be allowed 28 days of unescorted overnight stays away from the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Port Coquitlam.

Schoenborn killed his three children at their home in Merritt in April, 2008. At trial, he was found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder and was ordered held at the psychatric facility.

In 2020, the Review Board granted the Director of the facility the discretion to allow Schoenborn unescorted access to the broader community.
