KAMLOOPS — After a pandemic pause in 2021 prevented gatherings of no more than six people, the nine-member selection committee of the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame announced four individuals and one team make up the class of 2022 Wednesday (March 9).

The elected team is the 2013 Canadian Jr. Women’s Curling Champions skipped by Corryn Brown. She, along with vice-skip Erin Pincott, second Samantha Fisher and lead Sydney Fraser, were all 17 at the time they earned the right to represent Canada in the World Juniors. They were coached by Ken Brown and Brian Fisher.

Jack Isenor made an impact as a teacher for 38 years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Kamloops. The impression he made on the student body through physical education transcended to life itself playing recreational sports and competing in provincial and national championships.

Rob Kuroyama was involved with curling, baseball, and fastball. He threw third rocks for Barry McPhee’s B.C. Men’s Champions in 1981 and 1986.

Eric Schweizer had great success coaching soccer at numerous levels. His teams won four provincial community youth titles, six Okanagan, and two provincial championships in high school. He also won three provincial titles and a national championship at the college level. He was named the 2008 National CCAA Coach of the year in 2008.

And Elli Terwiel, a product of Sun Peaks Alpine Club, went on to ski internationally in slalom events on the World Cup circuit for four years with the Canadian national team. In the Winter Olympics, she was a forerunner at the Vancouver 2010 games, and was a competitor in Sochi 2014. She competed for the NCAA Champion University of Vermont where she earned her degree in structural engineering and is currently working in that field in California.

In total, the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame says there have been 119 individuals and 26 teams inducted in its 31-year history of honouring people who have made an impact in the Kamloops sports scene.
