KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 341 calls for service from midnight pm Friday (March 4) to 9 a.m. on Monday (March 7). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Car destroyed by train

An impaired woman had her car destroyed by a train near the Dallas Road area early Saturday morning.

RCMP say the woman was found safely and outside the car, in the company of someone who stopped to help her. However, a passing train collided with her car.

Police say the woman failed a roadside breath test, showing a blood alcohol content exceeding .08. She was given a 90-day driving prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Weapons found, but man unarmed

Three pellet rifles and brass knuckles were surrendered to RCMP following a report of a man with a gun in someone’s front yard Sunday afternoon.

A man was arrested on the 1900-block of Tranquille Road, although he was unarmed and later released.

Police say the items were found in his vehicle and were taken for destruction.

Tools stolen in Valleyview break-in

RCMP are looking for suspects after a Valleyview business was broken into shortly after 5 a.m. Friday morning.

Surveillance footage showed two people had pried open a door and stole Milwaukee tools, including batteries, a chainsaw, and pruner from a business on the 2000-block of the East Trans Canada Highway.

Anyone with information related to the investigation or knows anyone who may have recently come into possession of similar tools are asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
