KAMLOOPS — Dylan Ernst is eight games into his new starting role with the Blazers in place of the injured Dylan Garand, and the 18-year-old has held his own with a 5-2-1 record.
He’s been named WHL Goaltender of the Week after three wins last week with a 1.97 goals-against average and .930 saves percentage. It has the Blazers tied for first in the Western Conference with Everett.
The 3-0 record included a 20-save performance in a 7-2 Blazers win over Spokane last Wednesday, as well as the two wins this weekend over Vancouver (4-3 OT) and Victoria (2-1).
The Blazers host Kelowna in a home-and-home when Garand is expected back in net. The next six games are against the Rockets.
