Truck driver killed by rockslide near Lillooet

LILLOOET, B.C. — RCMP in Lillooet say a commercial truck driver died Monday (Feb. 28) after his truck was hit by a rockslide.
The incident happened on Highway 40 near the Yalakom River crossing.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. There they found the male driver of a commercial vehicle dead, apparently due to a rockslide that hit the truck’s cab.
The highway was closed while the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure completed a safety assessment.
