Middlesboro bridge to be lifted from Coldwater River this week

MERRITT, B.C. — During the November floods, the Middlesboro Bridge, sometimes known as the Voght Street Bridge, collapsed into the river. This week, the bridge will be lifted from the river and removed from the scene.

“The span that collapsed will be removed from the river, that work will be occurring this week. Contractor will be mobilizing and the work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.”

Replacement of the bridge is still forecast for much later this year or possibly early 2023.

“The embankment is eroding in that area, we need to protect that embankment. We hope to select a successful bidder for that work and have them mobilize by the end of next week.”
