KAMLOOPS — An annual tradition in Kamloops is on display at the old courthouse starting on Saturday (Mar. 5).

Art Exposed, which showcases 160 works of art from local artists, begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and wraps up next Saturday, Mar. 12.

Throughout the week, people are able to drop in to see a number of expressive, colourful paintings, photographs, sculptures, and a lot more. Admission is by donation.

“They can expect some amazing works by local artists from all around the region. We have a lot of people from Kamloops or Tk’emlups te Secwepemc, and also from Salmon Arm, Vernon and some other places as well,” said Kamloops Arts Council executive director Tanya Nielsen.

Exhibits like Art Exposed provides exposure to many local artists who wouldn’t otherwise have their work on display. Some of the artists, including children, are being given their first opportunity to be seen.

“This goes from emerging artists to established artists,” noted Nielsen. “We have some really young artists here. I think the youngest one is four years old, then we have up to the senior citizen range. It’s great.”
