Indecent act behind the wheel (File #2022-6183)

A man was arrested after allegedly committing an indecent act during a traffic stop.

In the wee hours of Saturday morning (Feb. 26), a Mountie pulled over a vehicle on the East Trans Canada Highway frontage road for travelling without headlights on.

As the officer pulled over to speak to the driver, the Mountie saw the driver “engaged in an indecent act,” continuing even as the officer tried to give him directions. Backup officers were required to bring the man into custody.

The driver was given a pair of tickets, a 24-hour driving prohibition for driving while under the influence of drugs and a chance to sober up in RCMP cells.

North Shore mischief (File #2022-6226, 2022-6216)

A man is facing potential charges after being arrested in two separate mischief cases.

The first took place during the noon hour Saturday at a home in the 400-block of Fortune Drive, where an agitated man was damaging property. The second call came in at about 2:10 p.m., at a business in the 400-block of Tranquille Road, where the same man was reported to be yelling and damaging property.

The suspect was arrested near Yew Street and Tranquille Road, and later released with a court date and conditions.

Woman assaulted (File #2022-6278)

A woman was injured and a man was arrested after an assault in the Kamloops downtown early Sunday morning (Feb. 27).

RCMP say they were called to a motel in the 1300-block of Columbia Street, finding a woman suffering from obvious injuries. She was taken to hospital for treatment via ambulance.

A man was arrested in a room nearby. He is now facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

Airsoft on the beach (File #2022-6302)

An intoxicated man was arrested with an apparent firearm on the shore of the North Thompson River.

During the noon hour Sunday, officers were called to the beach off Schubert Drive near Richmond Avenue. The caller said an intoxicated man was seen putting a black revolver into a backpack.

As Mounties arrived, they saw the suspect shooting an apparent airsoft gun, dancing and “making erratic movements.”

The man was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up. His airsoft gun was confiscated for destruction.
