KAMLOOPS — For the seventh time in the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, the Kamloops Blazers fell to the Kelowna Rockets, this time in a low scoring 2-1 game on the road Friday (Feb. 25).

After a scoreless first period, Reese Belton opened the scoring for the Blazers in the second after receiving a pass in the slot. From there, Rockets captain Tyson Feist scored twice – one on a one-timer above the circle and the other on a seeing-eye wrist shot from the blue line.

Kamloops thought they had the late tying goal with Daylan Kuefler banging the puck in the blue paint, but the on-ice officials called it off due to contact with the goaltender.

The Blazers fall to 35-14-2 on the 2021-22 WHL season, good for 72 points in 51 games. They’re still second in the Western Conference and first in the B.C. Division.

The Blazers welcome the Rockets for the second half of their home-and-home series Saturday (Feb. 26) at 7 p.m. from Sandman Centre. The Blazer are looking for their first win over the Rockets this season.
