KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is advising residents that parking patrol will be returning to the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC) lots.

In a release the city says beginning March 1, license plate registration will once again be required to park at the TCC. For the past two years, registration was suspended to limit touch points during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visitors and users of the TCC – which includes the Canada Games Aquatic Centre, Kamloops Gymnastics and Trampoline Centre, Sage Sport Institute, and Taste Kitchen – are allowed to park for two hours when they register their license plate.

Plate registration will be required between Monday and Friday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. People who need to park for more than two hours can make arrangements with staff at the TCC front counter.

Community Service Officers will be on site in March reminding drivers to register their plate and issuing warnings to those who have parked and left the the centre.

Full patrol and enforcement of parking restrictions will begin April 1, 2022.

“We want to ensure that over the next few weeks the community is aware of the licence plate registration. After two years of a registration hiatus, we don’t want to surprise anyone with a parking ticket or a towed vehicle,” says Business Operations & Event Supervisor Sean Smith.

Plate registration is not required outside of the noted hours, on weekends, or during special events.
