Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 drop in B.C. over four-day period; 44 people died
VICTORIA — British Columbia says another 44 deaths have been reported due to COVID-19 over the past four days for a total of 2,830 fatalities in the province.
It also says there were 688 people in hospital on Tuesday with COVID-19 compared with 733 on Friday, with 108 patients in intensive care, down from 113.
A government news release says the province was reporting 2,103 new cases of COVID-19 during the four-day period, although health officials have said the number is likely higher as B.C. has hit its testing capacity limits.
The province says 17 of the deaths were reported by the Vancouver Coastal health authority; 11 by Fraser Health; seven were in the Interior; five were from Vancouver Island; and four were reported by Northern Health.
