KAMLOOPS — A truck stopped in the travel lanes of the Trans Canada Highway led Kamloops RCMP to an impaired driving arrest Wednesday (Feb. 16).

At about 10:00 p.m., officers were called to Highway 1 near Copperhead Drive, finding a grey pickup truck stopped against the concrete barrier on the inside lane of the highway. The driver was not injured.

“Based on the officer’s observations, the suspect was transported to the detachment to provide a sample of his breath, which registered a reading of 250 mgs – three times the amount warranting the separate charge of exceeding 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood,” said detachment spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn.

The Kamloops man was given a driving prohibition and a court date.
