Environment Canada issues Coquihalla snowfall warning ahead of long weekend

MERRITT, B.C. — Just in time for pre-long weekend travel, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the major route between the Interior and the Lower Mainland.

The forecaster says a frontal system is expected to bring heavy snow to the Coquihalla Highway between Merritt and Hope starting Saturday morning (Feb. 19).

Environment Canada says between 20 and 25 centimetres of snow is expected to accumulate before snowfall tapers off on Sunday.

Drivers are advised to be prepared for changing road conditions and reduced visibility.
