MERRITT, B.C. — Following the devastating flood in mid-November, the local school district has been working to repair damage done to multiple schools in Merritt.

Diamond Vale Elementary, Merritt Central, Merritt Secondary and the school board office were all damaged to varying degrees during the disaster.

“We are happy to let you know that we are making good progress in repairing schools on the Merritt side of the district, progress is steady and our plans for schools being ready for kids remain on track. We are optimistic that both Merritt Secondary and Diamond Vale Elementary Schools will be ready for kids and staff after Spring Break, on Monday, April 4th, 2022,” wrote Assistant Superintendent Jameel Aziz in a letter to families.

Merritt Central School received the most damage during the floods and isn’t expected to reopen until September.
