RCMP teams bring commercial truck under control after wild ride through Shuswap
SALMON ARM, B.C. — A commercial truck driver is facing a series of charges after allegedly failing to stop for police while speeding through the Shuswap Thursday (Feb. 10).
In a news release, Salmon Arm RCMP say a B.C. Highway Patrol officer initially pulled the eastbound truck over at 1:30 p.m., on the Trans Canada Highway near Sorrento. The driver initially rolled to a stop, but when the officer approached, began driving eastbound once again.
A Salmon Arm member located the truck in the Tappen area and tried to pull it over again, but it refused to stop.
RCMP did not pursue, but kept track of the truck’s location, with the public reporting erratic driving behaviour such as running red lights, passing on double-solid lines and driving at high speeds.
