Falkland Stampede, Interior Provincial Exhibition to return in 2022

FALKLAND, B.C. — It looks like 2022 will be when major events start to be held again, many returning after two years of cancellations due to COVID-19.

One of the first out of the gate will be the Falkland Stampede on the May long weekend, in the small community north west of Vernon.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the return of the Falkland Stampede — May 21-23, 2022,” said a posting on the stampede society’s Facebook page. “The planning for this highly anticipated event is already underway, and our committee of volunteers are as eager as ever!”

“Super excited to hear this!!!” said one person on the site. “Great news, so happy,” said another, echoing the general theme of the dozens of comments.

Organizers had hoped to hold the more than 100-year-old rodeo in August last year, but that was scrapped due to the provincial health orders in place at the time.

Also planning a return in 2022 is the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong, which last held its event in the fall of 2019.
