JULIAN FOWLES DIES AT 76: Deadline reports that longtime film and television producer Julian Fowles died on Saturday (February 5th) at the age of 76. Fowles produced Eleanor: In Her Own Words, which won a Los Angeles Area Emmy and was part of the PBS American Playhouse Series. He also won a Primetime Emmy for his work on Mark Twain and Me. After leaving KCET for Esparza/Katz Productions, Fowles produced films such as Selma, Lord, The Sweetest Gift, and Captive. He is survived by his wife, Gallena Fowles.
PRODUCTION FOR THAT ‘90S SHOW BEGINS: TV Line reports that just days after the cast was revealed for That ‘90s Show, a That ‘70s Show spinoff, Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty) and Kurtwood Smith (Red) took to social media to share photos from the set. “And we have started,” Rupp wrote, alongside a photo of her script and name plate. Smith took to Twitter writing, “Red and Kitty, teenagers, grunge rock… let’s gooooo!”
ROSAMUND PIKE TO PLAY LEAD IN RICH FLU: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike is set to star in Rich Flu, a thriller about a deadly virus that attacks the wealthy. Director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia said the film is “an immense physical saga, full of twists, obstacles, and surprises. But, above all, it is a complex and provocative emotional journey to the depths of the human soul and the pinnacles of our glorious self-indulgence.”
THE POWER OF THE DOG NAMED BEST FILM BY LONDON CRITICS’ CIRCLE: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog was chosen for film of the year at the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards. In addition to this title, The Power of the Dog won director of the year, actor of the year, and supporting actor of the year.
