Blazers win seventh in a row, defeat Giants 3-2

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers got to showcase their talents in front of a national TV audience during their 3-2 win over the Vancouver Giants Friday (Feb. 4) evening.

While they surrendered the first goal on ad odd-man rush, the Blazers responded with two quick goals to end the first period: Matthew Seminoff’s pass deflecting off a Giants skate and in and Logan Stankoven finishing a chance off the rush.

The Giants tied the game early in the second with Zack Ostapchuk beating a screened Dylan Garand shorthanded. The game would remain tied until late in the third when Seminoff fed Fraser Minter in front of the net.

The Blazers have won seven straight and improved to 29-11-1 on the 2021-22 Western Hockey League season. They’re second in the Western Conference and first in the B.C. Division with 59 points in 41 games.

The Blazers aim to make it eight wins in a row Saturday (Feb. 5) on the road against the Victoria Royals.
