BC Liberals select Falcon to lead the party
KAMLOOPS – Kevin Falcon has won the BC Liberal party leadership race. Falcon won the race over 6 other candidates, garnering more than 50 per cent of ballots cast by party members following a series of ballots Saturday night.
Falcon has a long history with the party. He was first elected in the riding of Surrey-Cloverdale in 2001 and served three terms as the M.L.A. for the riding.
He held several cabinet posts while the party was under the leadership of Gordon Campbell, including as the Minister of Health.
In 2011, he ran for the leadership of the party but finished as the runner-up to Christy Clark. A short time later he announced he would not run in the 2013 campaign and stepped away from provincial politics.
