Tk’emlups homicide victim was Sa-Hali Secondary student
KAMLOOPS — An 18-year-old man who was found dead in a Tk’emlups parking lot last Saturday (Jan. 29) was a Grade 12 student at Sa-Hali Secondary School.
In a news release issued Thursday, Kamloops RCMP identified the victim as Jagraj Dhinsa. According to spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn, Dhinsa was found deceased with “obvious injuries” in the parking lot off Chilcotin Road Saturday morning. Police released his identity in an effort to further their homicide investigation.
Sa-Hali Secondary Principal Rachael Sdoutz emailed a letter to parents Thursday evening confirming the death of a Grade 12 student. She did not identify Dhinsa by name, but noted RCMP were investigating the student’s death as a homicide and had issued a news release to that effect.
“Our condolences go out to this student’s family, friends and everyone who is affected by this news,” said Sdoutz. “This sad news will impact students, staff and community members.”
