WolfPack women’s basketball team’s losing streak continues

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack women’s basketball team’s losing streak has extended to eight games.

The WolfPack dropped both their weekend home games against the University of Victoria (UVic) Vikes. On Friday (Jan. 28), Anneke Cairnie led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but TRU fell 71-51.

Saturday (Jan. 29) was a closer affair, as the WolfPack carried a 12-point lead at half and a seven-point lead after three quarters. Although a 19-9 fourth quarter gave UVic their second win. Cairnie scored 13 points again while adding 13 rebounds.

The women’s WolfPack team falls to 1-14, which puts them at the bottom of the West Division. They’re scheduled to host the University of Fraser Valley on Tuesday (Feb. 3).

Meanwhile, the men’s WolfPack team were unable to play their pair of home games against UVic. Canada West announced that UVic could not have the minimum number of players available to safely compete due to COVID-19 protocols. The men are also scheduled to host Fraser Valley on Tuesday.
