LILLOOET, B.C. — A man awaiting trial on no fewer than 20 charges has a few more to contend with after being nabbed in Lillooet.

On Sunday, RCMP responding to a suspicious person call near Pavilion found a truck that had been stolen out of Clinton.

Officers determined the truck had run out of gas, and the alleged thief abandoned it and took a taxi to Lillooet, skipping the $86 fare once he got there.

RCMP found him at a local hotel and arrested him for fraud and possession of stolen property.

In addition to breaching his court-ordered conditions, police say he was in possession several pieces of identification that did not belong to him.

“Thanks to the quick thinking and persistence of the Lillooet police officers, this prolific offender was arrested and off the streets” said Cst. Andrew Hodges of Lillooet RCMP.
