Screams for help in alleged Lower Sahali sexual assault

A Kamloops woman faces charges such as forcible confinement and sexual assault after RCMP say another woman screamed for someone to call the police.

Officers attended a Lower Sahali address Friday morning and found a woman with injures.

The suspect, who police say is known to the victim, was arrested and later released on conditions with a court date. RCMP say suspect’s name isn’t being released to protect the victim’s identity.

Kelowna man arrested in Kamloops after alleged car theft

A Kelowna man wanted on a warrant out of Grand Forks, who was driving a Honda Civic that was reportedly stolen out of Kelowna, was arrested Sunday evening.

RCMP say an officer noticed the Civic make a U-turn on Vernon Avenue with the car’s truck unlatched and bouncing. Police say the driver left on foot after a traffic stop.

The man was arrested and later released with a court date and conditions, and is charged with possession of stolen property and prohibited driving.

Vehicle catches fire on Trans Canada Highway

A driver traveling west on the East Trans Canada Highway near the Highway 5 ramp reportedly lost control and went off the road Saturday morning.

While those in the vehicle were found uninjured nearby, RCMP say the vehicle’s smoke turned to flames. Kamloops Fire Rescue extinguished the vehicle fire.

One lane was briefly closed while the tow truck attended.
