Curl BC announces rescheduled championships, including one in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Following a number of COVID-19 cases linked to the B.C. curling championships in Kamloops last weekend, Curl BC has rescheduled at least four upcoming championships.

Among the four rescheduled events is the 2022 BC Stick Championships in Kamloops. Originally scheduled to take place Jan. 27-29, the event will take place Mar. 4-6.

Stick curling is designed for the visually impaired, as well as people who can no longer squat down in the hack.

In addition, the U21 championships have been rescheduled to Feb. 22-27.

Curl BC says with Omicron infections climbing, it made the difficult decision to push these championships to a later date, hoping the variant will have peaked.

The 2022 B.C. Mixed Championships (Mar. 10-13 in Kimberley), the B.C. Seniors Championships (Mar. 15-20 in Chilliwack) and the B.C. Club Championships (Mar. 24-27 in Trail) will move ahead on their original dates.
