Coldplay exists partially because “Back To The Future”

Coldplay’s Chris Martin says that the movie, Back To The Future, made him want to be in a band. He said, this was years before he met band member and co-founder, Jonny Buckland.

In an interview with Kelly Clarkson he pointed out a specific scene with Michael J Fox where he performs at the school dance.

He said, “That’s what made me want to be in a band, that scene.”

As he talked about some of his favorite moments onstage, he said that Michael J Fox had even joined them a couple of times to play guitar and perform songs from the movie.

The clips are posted online of covers of “Earth Angel” and “Johnny B. Goode.” Martin called performing with Fox, “a dream come true.”
