Interior Health prioritizing elderly, vulnerable people, and healthcare workers for PCR tests

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) says it is refining the list of people who can get a COVID-19 PCR test.

The health authority says people who are at higher risk will be prioritized for PCR testing.

This includes: people age 66 and older (regardless of their vaccination status), children age 4 and younger, and health-care workers.

IH says those living in congregate settings, where isolation from others is difficult, such as shelters or group homes may also receive a PCR test.

Tests are by appointment at community collection centres.

Anyone else experiencing symptoms is encouraged to manage the illness at home and self-isolate for five days and until you feel well enough to resume your regular activities. Notify your close contacts so they can self-monitor for symptoms.
