Brocklehurst Gemstone sees third COVID-19 outbreak

KAMLOOPS — A Brocklehurst care home is dealing with another COVID-19 outbreak — its third since the pandemic began.

Interior Health confirms Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre landed on the outbreak list Wednesday (Jan. 12). There are two staff cases and two resident cases at the facility.

Gemstone was the site of a large and lengthy outbreak in 2021, declared one year ago Thursday.

A second outbreak at the facility was declared on November 1, 2021.

As of mid-afternoon Thursday, there are seven Interior Health facilities with COVID-19 outbreaks and three other facilities with outbreaks of other illnesses.
