KAMLOOPS — A highway connecting the Interior to the Lower Mainland is temporarily closed.

Highway 99 between Lillooet and Pemberton is closed due to avalanche risk, DriveBC announced Monday (Jan. 10) morning.

Avalanche Canada’s forecast for the South Coast Inland as of Sunday (Jan. 9) shows considerable avalanche danger in the alpine and treeline for Tuesday and Wednesday, meaning natural avalanches are possible and human-triggered avalanches are likely. However, the danger is moderate below treeline, meaning only human-triggered avalanches are possible.

Elsewhere, DriveBC says Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton reopened Monday morning following avalanche control work. Drivers are told to expect delays and proceed with caution.
