Off-duty Kamloops RCMP officer stops shoplifter in Valleyview
KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops say one of their officers who was off-duty, was able to stop a shoplifter this week.
In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says on Sunday (Jan. 2), an off-duty officer was shopping at a store in the 2000-block of the East Trans Canada Highway when he saw a woman leave the store with a cart of items she allegedly had not paid for.
The officer followed the suspect outside and arrested her with the assistance of a security guard.
“This is a great example of police officers living and working in the community, and doing their part to help keep it safe, in and out of uniform,” states Evelyn.
