MERRITT, B.C. — A Merritt man is awaiting a January court date after allegedly entering a closed business over the summer.
Merritt RCMP say they visited a business on Nicola Avenue on July 25, 2021 after receiving reports of a suspicious man entering the stairwell of a closed business. Jaimie Koivisto reportedly gave officers a fake name before running away.
Police say Koivisto was caught after a lengthy foot chase, and it was revealed that he was wanted on a warrant. He had been set to appear at Merritt Law Courts five days earlier for crimes he allegedly committed in the spring.
