Kamloops RCMP searching for three men in downtown hit and run
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are looking for suspects after an off-duty officer was t-boned by a stolen red jeep downtown earlier Wednesday (Jan. 5) morning.
At around 5:15 a.m., RCMP say an officer was on their way home from work when their personal vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a stolen red Jeep Compass that ran a southbound stop sign at St. Paul Street and Seventh Avenue. Police say three men – all were wearing dark clothing; one with a backpack and another with a hunchback – fled eastbound on foot on St. Paul Street.
The red jeep in the hit and run was stolen from a motel on the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway on Tuesday (Jan. 4) at around 6 a.m.
“The off-duty officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is thankfully expected to fully recover in time,” Cst. Crystal Evelyn says.
