MERRITT, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) is launching a new pilot program, Interior Savings Internet to Go kits, for Merritt residents affected by the Coldwater River flood.

Starting Wednesday (Jan. 5), the TNRL will make 15 Chromebook laptops and Kajeet hotspot devices available to loan for up to four weeks at a time. Kits will be available at the Merritt Resiliency Centre located at 1950 Mamette Ave.

The program is being funded by a donation of $20,000 to the Merritt Branch of the TNRL from Interior Savings Credit Union to help in the flood recovery efforts in the area.

“We are so grateful for support from Interior Savings to help keep our residents connected, at a time when they greatly need it,” TNRL Chief Librarian Judy Moore said. “Laptops will be loaned at no charge, ensuring all residents are able to access the services and supports they need at this time.”
