Extreme Cold Warning issued for Kamloops

UPDATE – This warning has been lifted as of 6:30 P.M. Dec/ 27.

KAMLOOPS – Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the South Thompson region including Kamloops.

It says the bitter cold airmass hanging over the B.C. Interior, could generate wind chill values of minus 35 tonight (Dec. 27). Forecasters expect the winds to begin to die down this evening. However temperatures are still very cold with values expected to drop well below -20 C, or nearly 20 C cooler than the average overnight low.

According to the national weather agency, extreme cold puts everyone at risk of severe frostbite or worse.
