Christmas comes early for some Monte Lake residents

KAMLOOPS – A fundraiser for Monte Lake residents who lost their homes to the White Rock Lake wildfire, wrapped up in time for the holidays.

Community members, and vendors in the Heffley Creek and Sun Peaks area managed to raise $1,500 for families who lost everything in the fire and had no insurance.

Deb McDougall of the Heffley Creek Hall says Anne Carmichael and Candise White led the efforts, rallying vendors of the hall, community members, and McSporties of Sun Peaks to donate items for the raffled.

Each of the 15 families of Monte Lake will be given $100 cash, along with a blanket to make the holidays a bit easier.
