One man charged following alleged home invasion, stolen vehicle incident in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops say one man is in custody after a truck allegedly stolen during a home invasion was recovered.

In a release today (Dec. 16). Cst. Crystal Evelyn says on Monday (Dec. 13) around 7:40 p.m., officers responded to the 100-block of Yew Street for a report involving a man who was allegedly forcibly confined in his home while two men and a woman stolen several items – including his truck.

Police arrived on scene and gathered evidence as part of the investigation.

Two days later, on Dec. 15 around 10:55 p.m, a police officer was patrolling the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway when he saw a truck in a motel parking lot that matched the description provided by the victim.

“As part of the investigation that commenced, a man and a woman were located inside the vehicle, along with weapons,” says Cst. Evelyn.

RCMP say 31-year-old Kevin James Beattie of Kelowna is charged with:

  • possession of stolen property in excess value of $5,000
  • operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • possess a firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, brass knuckles, while he was prohibited from doing so.

Beattie was scheduled for court today (Dec. 16).
