KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 392 calls for service from midnight Friday (Dec. 10), to 9 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 13). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Downtown knife assault

A man at Royal Inland Hospital with stab and cut wounds early Sunday (Dec. 12) morning told RCMP he was walking downtown near Nicola Street with some friends when an unknown man asked him for cigarettes, then brandished a knife when none were provided.

The man physically confronted the suspect before he suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a bearded man with a shopping cart, wearing a toque, dark clothing, and a tan jacket inside of a dark one.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and refer to file 2021-43235.

Stolen truck recovered after motel fight

Police say two men were reportedly fighting at a motel on the 1700-block on the East Trans Canada Highway just after midnight on Saturday (Dec. 11).

RCMP say the men were associated with a black pickup truck that was stolen the day prior from a motel on the 1800-block of Rogers Place.

The truck was recovered, and a suspect from the investigation was arrested and later released with a court date.

Anyone with information about this is urged to contact police and reference file 2021-43041.

Tablet stolen during break-in

Police say a business in the 900-block of Columbia Street West had two windows smashed, and a tablet stolen during a break-in Sunday morning (Dec. 12).

Around 5 a.m Sunday, frontline officers responded to an alarm at the business, and discovered the windows had been smashed, and the back door had been left open. Police also found an axe, which was seized as evidence.

RCMP are investigating, and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file number 2021-43240.
