Trucking company suspended after driver caught passing vehicles dangerously on Highway 5A
KAMLOOPS — A trucking company had its National Safety Code certificate suspended, pending an audit of the company’s nation-wide operations, affecting 171 trucks.
The suspension comes after a video posted to social media in early December showed a commercial truck passing other vehicles on a curve, across double solid lines, and approaching the crest of a hill on Highway 5A between Princeton and Highway 97C south of Merritt.
BC Highway Patrol in Keremeos says it investigated and worked with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to identify the trucking company and enforce action where evidence supported it.
BC Highway Patrol urges all commercial truckers to be extremely cautious on B.C.’s highways at all times, especially during poor winter driving conditions. Along with carrying and using chains when required, driving according to weather and road conditions, and slowing down.
