KAMLOOPS — A 28-year-old man from Williams Lake, that RCMP say is a prolific offender, was arrested a crime spree that began in Williams Lake and ended in Kamloops.

Kamloops RCMP say a blue truck that fled from fled from police in Ashcroft was spotted on the East Trans Canada Highway at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 14). Police say the same truck was involved in a fuel theft investigation at around 6:45 a.m. in Williams Lake, after it had been stolen from the same community.

“Clearly the offender was going to continue his crime spree,” Kamloops RCMP Superintendent Sydney Lecky says. “Thankfully, he was safely intercepted before he could continue any further harm.”

Multiple officers responded and a spike belt was deployed on the East Trans Canada Highway near Dallas. RCMP say the truck continued, smashed through a fence, and hit the centre ditch near Hook Road before coming to a stop.
