B.C. reports 519 new COVID-19 cases, 145 of them in Interior Health

KAMLOOPS — B.C. reports 519 new COVID-19 cases for Tuesday (Dec. 14), with 145 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases are at 3,171 in the province and 612 in Interior Health. Of the provincial active cases, 191 patients are in hospital with 81 of them in intensive care.

Elsewhere, there were 123 cases in Island Health (804 active), 110 in Fraser Health (872), 106 in Vancouver Coastal Health (669), and 34 in Northern Health (213). One new case was reported from someone who resides outside of Canada.

Earlier Tuesday, the B.C. government reported 44 total cases of the omicron variant, with three of them in Interior Health.

No new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours for a provincial total of 2,381.

No new healthcare facility outbreaks were declared. There are three active outbreaks, including Ponderosa Lodge in Kamloops.

As of Tuesday, 86.6 per cent (4,316,478) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 82.4 per cent (4,105,425) have received their second.
