Kamloops ties yearly overdose record with two months left to report

KAMLOOPS — With two months left of reporting in 2021, Kamloops has tied the record for most illicit overdose deaths in a year.
October numbers were announced by B.C. chief coroner Lisa LaPointe on Thursday (Dec. 9) with 201 overdose deaths in October, pushing the year-to-date number to 1,782.
In all of 2020, there were 1,438 deaths from illicit drugs.
In Kamloops, the number of deaths to the end of October are now at 60, matching last year’s totals.
