KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 377 calls for service from midnight Friday (Dec. 3), to 9 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 6). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Machete and drugs seized in Valleyview

A machete, pepper spray, and drugs were seized, following a report of a suspicious vehicle in Valleyview Friday afternoon.

RCMP say two men were reportedly sitting in a parked car – that they say was involved in an investigation the day prior and fled from officers – for three hours in the 1700-block of Glenwood Drive and left with what appeared to a sword.

The vehicle was towed, and the drugs and weapons were destroyed.

Man injures himself with barbed wire weapon

RCMP say an intoxicated man was arrested, then taken to hospital for treatment, after he injured himself with a blunt object wrapped in barbed wire.

On Sunday past midnight, the man reportedly refused to leave a downtown pub and became aggressive. After he was locked out, police say he allegedly began smashing the door’s glass with the barbed wire weapon.

He was later released with a pending court date.

Reported abduction

RCMP say a distraught man told police he and a friend had been restrained and placed into his friend’s vehicle overnight Sunday.

Although he had managed to escape, his friend was still missing.

The man’s friend was found safe on Dalgelish Drive where his captors allegedly released him, although RCMP say details are under investigation.

Police say they’re interested in video capturing a blue Mazda between midnight and 5:30 a.m. in the plaza parking lot of 500 Notre Dame Drive, or on Versatile Drive, Hugh Allen Drive, Columbia Street West, Hillside Drive, and Dalgelish Drive.
